Historic World Championship for the Philippines Men’s Team
The Philippines men's national team made headlines at the 2024 World Floorball Championships in Malmö with a historic win over a European team and the country’s best-ever tournament finish.
The spotlight moment came in their final placement match against Poland. After trailing for most of the game, the Philippines mounted a dramatic comeback and won 9–8 in overtime – marking the first time they’ve beaten a European side in a World Championship.
Their overall 11th place finish not only set a new national record but also qualified them for The World Games 2025. The squad, composed of players from Asia, Europe, and North America, showcased exceptional chemistry, skill, and heart throughout the tournament.
Perhaps even more telling of their rise is their world ranking. Just five years ago, the Philippines sat at 35th in the global standings. As of May 2024, they had climbed to 14th – a testament to the rapid growth and increasing competitiveness of the program. Floorball’s popularity is also on the rise back home, fueled by international success and a growing youth base.
With history already written and bigger stages ahead, the Philippines men’s floorball team is no longer just part of the conversation – they’re here to make noise.
